Amanda grew up on the high plains of Colorado surrounded by vast wheat fields and an abundance of freedom. Her dad's woodshop was a treasure trove of scrap pieces and shapes of wood that became fodder for her imagination. Her mom, an art historian and teacher, kept art at the forefront of their lives with museum visits, workshops and endless art supplies. Amanda received her BFA in Design and Illustration at the University of Kansas and worked for her alma mater for many years as a designer. Now she resides in Fort Collins and works both as a freelance designer and assemblage artist by bringing that same symbolic, pictorial sensibility into her one-of-a-kind wood pieces. Each piece is hand cut, shaped and painted to achieve a truly personalized piece full of many layers of meaning, depth and authenticity.
