Jeanne works from her home studio and specializes in delicately pierced and carved vessels. About midway through her career as an art gallery director, she began taking pottery classes at the Northern Colorado Potters Guild here in Fort Collins. Her first class was a frustrating experience in just trying for 6 weeks to get a lump of clay centered on the wheel so she could possibly throw something. In the last week of that class the magic finally happened, and she centered and threw a decent bowl seemingly without any effort. After that, Jeanne was hooked. It took several years to perfect her throwing skills, to discover the fun of piercing through the clay, and to develop skill and be successful with that technique. She’s still in love with the magic of throwing on the wheel, and the meditative experience of carving shapes and designs into the wet clay.
